Kaohsiung Fines Landowner Land Bank 60,000 TWD for Neglected Recycling Site

The Kaohsiung City Health Bureau fined the Land Bank of Taiwan 60,000 TWD on the 29th after a recycling site in Qianzhen District, which had become a breeding ground for mosquitoes, failed to meet a 48-hour cleanup deadline. The city has been intensifying inspections in high-risk areas following the first local case of dengue fever this year. The Health Bureau stated that the Hongren Recycling Site had long been filled with waste and stagnant water, leading to numerous complaints and fines. The bureau has been urging the landowner and the tenant to clear the site and terminate the lease. Surveillance cameras have been installed, and the area has been cordoned off with dengue fever warning flags. The Health Bureau emphasized that stagnant water and waste piles are breeding grounds for mosquitoes and that they will continue to conduct inspections to protect the health of nearby residents.
