On the evening of the 30th, at the intersection of Guanghui Street and Meicun Road in Taichung's South District, a 76-year-old driver crashed into the opposite lane for unknown reasons, colliding with a motorcycle and hitting a parked car. The 38-year-old motorcyclist was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to their injuries. A pedestrian also sustained minor injuries. The Taichung Fire Bureau received the report at 8:53 PM and dispatched rescue teams. The car had overturned after hitting a street lamp, and a utility pole was snapped in half. The 38-year-old victim, surnamed Lin, suffered head trauma and a pelvic fracture, and was pulseless at the scene. The 76-year-old driver, surnamed Zhuang, was also hospitalized. Police confirmed the driver was not under the influence of alcohol. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
