Heavy Rain Alert for Southern Taiwan; Flash Flood Warning for Pingtung's Sandimen

The Central Weather Administration (CWA) issued a heavy rain alert today. Due to strong convective cloud development in the afternoon, areas including Taichung City, mountainous regions of Yunlin County, as well as Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung, and Pingtung are prone to short-duration heavy rainfall. A disaster alert for mountain flash floods has been issued for Sandimen Township, Pingtung County. The CWA stated that there is a high probability of localized heavy rain in areas from Chiayi southward, as well as the mountainous regions of Taichung, Yunlin, Nantou, and Hualien. Residents should be wary of lightning and strong gusts. In mountainous areas, caution against landslides and falling rocks is advised, while low-lying areas should watch for flooding. The alert remains in effect until tonight. Additionally, a disaster alert has been issued for the Shamo Creek (Poseidon Temple) area in Pingtung County until 6:59 PM, warning of potential flash floods and urging people to stay away from the creek.
