Drunk Driving Collision in Hsuehshan Tunnel Causes 20-Minute Closure

On the morning of the 30th, a man surnamed Liao was driving in the southbound lane of the Hsuehshan Tunnel on National Highway 5 when he rear-ended a white car, which then hit a blue car in front. Police reported no injuries, but the inner southbound lane was closed for approximately 20 minutes for site clearance, causing traffic congestion. A breathalyzer test confirmed that Liao was over the legal alcohol limit, and he was subsequently referred to prosecutors on charges of public endangerment.
