Hanfu Meets Social Media: Luoyang, Henan Capitalizes on Ancient Style

Luoyang, Henan Province, is one of the cities where Hanfu culture is most vibrant in China. For about 600 NTD (approx. 130 RMB), visitors can dress up as classical beauties or gentlemen, a trend fueled by social media that is boosting the local tourism industry. The number of Hanfu shops in Luoyang's old town has grown exponentially since the end of 2022, reaching 1,360 stores. Tourists post photos on social media platforms like 'Xiaohongshu' (RED), enjoying the experience of being in an ancient capital. Luoyi Ancient City attracts up to 100,000 visitors on holidays, 80% of whom are young people. Capitalizing on this trend, local authorities are organizing events to further expand the tourism economy.
