The High Court rejected the appeal yesterday in the case of former Hong Kong Journalists Association chairman Chan Long-sing, who was sentenced to 5 days in prison for obstructing police officers during a reporting assignment. Chan was charged after refusing to show his ID card upon request by a police officer during a 2022 assignment. The judge stated that the officer's request was reasonable and that Chan's behavior was provocative and intentionally obstructed the officer's duties, ordering his immediate incarceration. Chan's legal team is considering an appeal to the Court of Final Appeal.
