A green sea turtle was found stranded on a walkway in an oyster farm in Fubao Village, Fuxing Township, Changhua County, on the 31st. Fishermen rescued the turtle and reported it to the Ocean Conservation Administration and other agencies. Because the turtle carried a satellite tracker with simplified Chinese characters, it drew public attention. The Ocean Conservation Administration confirmed the tracker was developed by the Institute of Deep-sea Science and Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The turtle was artificially bred at a national nature reserve in Huizhou, Guangdong, and released on the 21st. The tracker provides GPS data to track migration paths. The Taiwan Cetacean Society has taken the turtle for evaluation and care, as it showed low activity levels.
