Central News Agency (Tainan, May 31) A drowning accident occurred on the evening of the 30th along the southern bank of the Zengwen River estuary in Tainan, where an angler reportedly fell into tetrapods. Personnel from the Coast Guard Administration and the Tainan City Fire Bureau arrived after receiving a report and pulled the 56-year-old man, surnamed Kuo, from the water. Initial checks showed no vital signs, and he was pronounced dead after being rushed to Chi Mei Medical Center in Yongkang. Zhou Ping, captain of the Zengwen River Inspection Station, stated that they received a report at 4:53 PM on the 30th regarding a person falling into the sea about 260 meters south of the estuary. Rescue teams arrived within three minutes. Zhou noted that the victim was trapped between tetrapods and was extracted with the help of others on-site. CPR was performed before he was handed over to firefighters for transport to the hospital. Preliminary investigations suggest Kuo fell and hit his head, causing him to lose consciousness and drown. The exact cause remains under investigation.
