66-year-old father kills 11-year-old son in Narita, Japan; suspected murder-suicide attempt

Police believe the incident was a failed murder-suicide attempt driven by financial hardship. The man was arrested after being discharged from the hospital. The suspect, identified as 66-year-old unemployed resident Yoshii Toshihiko, allegedly killed his son, a sixth-grade elementary student, on the 27th. On the 29th, the school principal reported to the police that the boy had not attended school since the 27th. Police arrived to find the father and son lying on a futon. The boy had been dead for several days, while the father had no visible injuries and was taken to the hospital. During questioning, he admitted to the crime.
