UK Foreign Secretary Visits China and India, Focusing on Global Issues and Mutual Benefit

Central News Agency, London, 31st. UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper visited China today and will head to India later this week. The two-leg trip will focus on global issues such as the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, the Russia-Ukraine war, and the Ebola outbreak in Africa. The UK government stated that Cooper is expected to meet with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Vice President Han Zheng on June 2nd, and will travel to Shenzhen the following day for technology-related meetings. Amid geopolitical tensions, rising oil prices due to the US-Iran war, and sluggish UK economic growth, Cooper is visiting China, the world's second-largest economy, and India, the sixth-largest, to discuss how to address global challenges. After concluding her China visit, Cooper is scheduled to arrive in India on June 4th to hold talks with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and participate in the "UK-India Vision 2035" program, meeting with political, business, and academic figures in India. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced the reset of UK-China relations with President Xi Jinping during his visit to China in January this year, pledging to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, and technology to achieve mutual benefit.
