Shen Po-yang Responds to Rental Subsidy Funding Debate: Taipei Has Sufficient Resources

Regarding the central government's plan to share rental subsidy costs between central and local governments, Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an stated that it should not feel like the 'central government hosts, local government pays.' DPP mayoral candidate Shen Po-yang argued that following the amendment of the Act Governing the Allocation of Government Revenues and Expenditures, local financial resources have increased significantly, and Taipei City definitely has the funds. Shen noted that Taipei has implemented many 'money-tossing' policies in the past, making it unlikely that they would suddenly lack funds for rental subsidies. He urged the city government to listen to the needs of citizens. Regarding his 'Parent-Child Companion Card' policy, Shen emphasized it is part of an ecosystem designed to stimulate cultural development and consumer spending, rather than a one-off subsidy. He also addressed comments by former President Chen Shui-bian, stating he remains focused on listening to grassroots voices as a challenger.
