Cheng Li-wun to Visit US on June 1; Li De-wei: Focus is on Cross-Strait Peace

(CNA Taipei, 31st) KMT Chair Cheng Li-wun will depart for the US on June 1. Li De-wei, a member of the Standing Committee accompanying her, said today that the focus of this visit is peace in the Taiwan Strait. The main goal is to create a "win-win-win" situation among the US, China, and Taiwan, ensuring the two major powers are at ease, the Taiwanese people are reassured, and the welfare of the Taiwanese people is secured. Cheng will lead a 14-member delegation to the US, visiting San Francisco, Boston, New York, and Washington. She will meet with members of Congress, hold discussions with major US think tanks, and give lectures at Harvard, MIT, and Columbia University. The delegation includes KMT Representative to the US Qin Ri-xin, former Representative to the US Yuan Jian-sheng, Standing Committee member Li De-wei, Standing Committee member Qin Peng-zhen, International Affairs Director Dong Jia-yu, and Overseas Affairs Director Wu Liang-yi. Regarding the main theme, Li stated that it aligns with the recent "Cheng-Xi meeting," focusing on cross-strait peace and the future welfare of the Taiwanese people. Since Cheng brought back positive messages of peace from her meeting with Xi Jinping in mainland China, the US visit continues to prioritize cross-strait peace. Li noted that while the Director of the Cultural and Communications Committee, Yin Nai-jing, is not joining due to her resignation, the focus is on effectively communicating information to the public.
