The Pingtung County Police Bureau held a press conference on the 1st to showcase the results of its 'pre-election crackdown on underground financial crimes.' Statistics show that in two crackdowns this year, police successfully apprehended 5 major targets and 46 accomplices, seizing over 21.81 million TWD in cash and three luxury cars. In the first five months of this year, 157 cases of drug-impaired driving were referred for prosecution. In May, police cracked down on 15 cases of online gambling and underground banking, seizing 4.92 million TWD. Regarding fraud, police have solved 230 cases this year, preventing losses of over 14.52 million TWD. County Magistrate Chou Chun-mi expressed concern over the impact of online gambling on young people and pledged to continue strengthening enforcement to protect public order and property safety.
