President Lai Ching-te stated today that whether facing climate change, digital transformation, or geopolitical shifts, 'resilience' is a vital capability for national survival and development. The government hopes to build a more resilient and sustainable Taiwan, and the engineering sector will continue to play a key role in energy transition, transportation construction, and urban governance. President Lai met with the award winners of the 115th Chinese Institute of Engineers this morning. He thanked the engineering community for their long-term commitment to national construction, technological development, and industrial upgrading, and commended the Institute for promoting international exchanges. The President emphasized that the new fellows and award winners are important forces supporting Taiwan's engineering development. He specifically highlighted the contributions of Professor Lu Liang-cheng in international engineering certification, Professor Chen Hsin-wen in materials science, and Professor Su Fang-ching in biomedical engineering. The President noted that the upcoming annual meeting theme, 'Overcoming Trials, Achieving Resilience,' aligns with current global trends. He mentioned that the government is actively promoting the 'Trillion-Dollar National Development Plan' and the 'AI Ten Major Construction' projects, and looks forward to collaborating with the engineering sector to implement these policies.
