According to CNA reporters Kao Hua-chien and Yang Yao-ju, Presidential Office spokesperson Kuo Ya-hui announced on the 1st that at the invitation of Palau President Surangel S. Whipps, Jr., President Lai Ching-te has appointed Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim to lead a delegation to Palau from June 6 to 10. This marks Vice President Hsiao's first visit to a diplomatic ally since taking office. The visit aims to achieve three major goals: deepening bilateral ties, assisting Palau in promoting sustainable tourism, and witnessing the results of the 'Taiwan-Palau Prosperity Project.' The delegation includes Deputy Minister of Health and Welfare Lin Ching-yi and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Remus Li-kuo Chen. Vice President Hsiao will meet with President Whipps and local political leaders, inspect the results of cooperation in agriculture, fisheries, healthcare, and infrastructure, and visit sustainable tourism sites to help promote Palau to Taiwanese travelers. The government aims to further strengthen ties with its diplomatic allies through this visit.
