Anthropic announced today that it has confidentially filed for an initial public offering (IPO). The OpenAI rival recently announced that it raised $65 billion in a new funding round, bringing its post-money valuation to nearly $1 trillion. According to AFP, a confidential filing allows companies to submit IPO documents to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for review without disclosing financial conditions or business details to the public until the process reaches a later stage. In a statement, Anthropic said, 'This allows us to choose to go public after the SEC completes its review. The proposed IPO will depend on market conditions and other factors.' Anthropic also stated that the number of shares and the price for the offering have not yet been determined. OpenAI, which was valued at $852 billion in March this year, is also planning to go public and is expected to file its application soon.
