The Keelung City Government's Public Works Department announced today that the Guoan Road pedestrian bridge will be demolished from June 12 to 14 due to low usage and safety concerns. On the night of the 13th, the road will be fully closed for the removal of the main bridge girder. Zhang Youzhu, head of the Civil Engineering Section, stated that the bridge's stairs are inconvenient for the elderly and disabled, and the bridge piers obstruct the sidewalk, posing risks to pedestrians. After reviewing traffic flow and safety measures, the city decided to proceed with the demolition. During the construction, traffic will be diverted, and the department has set up detour signs to guide motorists.
