Central News Agency (Keelung, June 2) - A water pipe burst this afternoon on Jijing 1st Road in Keelung's Anle District. The Taiwan Water Corporation's First District Management Office dispatched personnel for emergency repairs, reporting that 2,410 households are currently without water. Repairs are expected to be completed and water supply restored by 10 PM. Wei Chin-lung, Deputy Director of the First District Management Office, stated that they received a report from a neighborhood warden at 2:57 PM regarding a burst water pipe under the sidewalk near Lane 112, Alley 110, Jijing 1st Road. Personnel were immediately dispatched to assist with traffic control and begin shutting off water valves. Wei indicated that repair equipment arrived at the scene around 3:50 PM to begin excavating the road surface. Repairs are currently underway, and the outage is expected to last until 10 PM. Affected areas include Jijing 1st Road, the Keelung Port West Coast connecting road, and Maijin Road. The First District Management Office stated that it will try to minimize the duration of the outage and advises users in the affected areas to store water in advance. Water supply will be restored as soon as work is completed, though areas at the end of the pipeline or in higher elevations may experience delayed restoration. The office apologized for the inconvenience caused to users.
