Largan Precision participated in the Taipei International Computer Show (Computex) for the first time today, showcasing two major CPO (Co-Packaged Optics) solutions. This demonstrates Chairman Lin En-ping's determination to transform the company and aggressively capture AI business opportunities. Although the manufacturing difficulty of CPO components is extremely high, Lin encourages his team to "trial and error" and challenge high-difficulty technologies to establish entry barriers. Largan participated in the exhibition in a low-key manner, jointly with its subsidiary, Advanced Optoelectronic Technology. The company showcased multi-channel micro-lens arrays (PMLA) and multi-channel fiber arrays, providing the market with a clearer view of its CPO progress. In recent years, due to the slowdown in the smartphone market and rising memory costs, Largan's growth momentum has been limited, making transformation a necessary strategy. CPO is seen as a high-potential new direction, and Largan hopes to enter the AI data center supply chain as a precision optical component supplier. However, Lin remained conservative at the investor conference, stating that Largan is currently focusing on the fiber array end and is preparing to send samples for customer certification, noting that there is still a "long way to go" before mass production. CPO replaces traditional copper wire transmission with optical communication, and Largan is currently focusing on the manufacturing of high-precision optical components within the socket. Industry experts point out that the manufacturing difficulty is high due to the small size and strict tolerances, posing significant yield challenges. Nevertheless, Largan's team noted that Lin encourages employees to challenge high-difficulty technologies to build entry barriers. The company has already started POC (Proof of Concept) samples and is in discussions with customers.
