(CNA) Building on the inaugural European Taiwan Culture Year, the Ministry of Culture is promoting activities in Europe with a dual focus on art and human rights. One stop includes Poland, attracting foreign media attention. Culture Minister Li Yuan emphasized that culture is Taiwan's soul. Polish journalist Andrzej Pawluszek interviewed Li, with the article published in the independent media outlet Dobitnie.pl. Titled "Not only Beijing has 'China'. Taiwan is starting its path to Europe," the piece focuses on Taiwan's opportunity for cultural diplomacy. Pawluszek noted that since Taiwan has limited formal diplomatic ties, it must use film, literature, and human rights to showcase its identity. Li stated, "Technology and semiconductors are Taiwan's body, but culture is our soul." Pawluszek argued that culture is not just decoration for Taiwan but a strategic tool to explain the significance of its democracy to the world.
