Alishan Forest Railway's New 'Senli' Train Derails During Test Run; No Injuries, 314 Passengers Affected

According to the Central News Agency, the Alishan Forest Railway and Cultural Heritage Management Office announced that at 10:17 AM, the new 'Senli' locomotive derailed during a test run on the main line (Chiayi Station to Alishan Station) at the 43.1 km mark (Shuishiliao section). No personnel were injured. The office immediately dispatched staff to re-rail the vehicle, completing the task by 12:22 PM. Deputy Director Chou Heng-kai stated that due to the line interruption, four 'Alishan' regular train services were canceled, affecting 314 passengers. These passengers are eligible for full refunds within one year. The office has suspended 'Senli' test runs and is requiring the manufacturer to investigate the cause and propose improvements to ensure safety.
