Man Arrested for Attempted Sexual Assault on High School Girl Remanded for 3 Months

A man surnamed Tsai, who attacked a high school girl on her way home in Tainan City this April, has been indicted by the Tainan District Prosecutors Office for attempted sexual assault and attempted robbery. The Tainan District Court ordered a 3-month detention today. The court stated that the suspect is charged with violating the Protection of Children and Youths Welfare and Rights Act and the Criminal Code. Given his premeditated plan and attempts to evade capture, there is a high risk of flight and recidivism. The incident occurred on April 22 at 5:50 PM on a sidewalk in Yongkang District. The suspect, wearing a mask and gloves, grabbed the student from behind and attempted to drag her into a vacant lot. When the victim resisted and called for help, a passing motorcyclist intervened with a wooden stick, causing the suspect to flee. The student photographed the suspect, leading to his arrest the following day on Shengli Road, East District.
