(CNA, Taipei, June 2) Netizens recently claimed that Kuma Academy's charity fundraising exceeded NT$30 million, suggesting that DPP Taipei mayoral candidate Shen Po-yang is 'profiting.' DPP Secretary-General Hsu Kuo-yung stated today that corporate assets and personal assets are not linked, and questioning Shen based on the academy's fundraising is an 'improper legal connection' in legal terms. The DPP held a press conference for the '2026 Youth Flagship Camp' this morning, attended by Hsu, Shen, Legislator Wu Pei-yi, and spokesperson Wu Cheng. Regarding media reports citing netizens' comments about Shen 'making money,' Hsu argued that just because he is an honorary director of Tzu Chi does not mean Tzu Chi's assets are his, labeling such claims as typical election-period smears. Wu Cheng added that there is no logical connection between a non-profit's fundraising and an individual's income. Furthermore, regarding external criticism of his spending on mobile games, Shen pointed out that as a professor, his salary is primarily used for AI tokens, academic books, and family care, and that spending on hobbies is a normal part of life, noting that such discussions miss the point.
