Central News Agency, Taipei, June 2. The Open Source Team Taiwan pavilion made its debut at COMPUTEX. Minister of Digital Affairs Huang-Chih Lin stated that Taiwan's software industry must transition from 'doing projects' to 'making products,' noting that the Ministry of Digital Affairs is building a shared AI technology foundation through open source. IMA Chairman Tsai Chi-yen added that Taiwan's open source power is moving toward a complete ecosystem. The pavilion launched at COMPUTEX InnoVEX, with Premier Cho Jung-tai visiting to review Taiwan's achievements in open source, AI, and industrial applications. Premier Cho praised the Digital Industry Administration's efforts in collaborating with academia and the community, aligning with the Executive Yuan's 'National AI Strategy Special Committee.' Minister Lin highlighted the 'break authority, share selflessly' spirit of open source as key to global development. He thanked contributors like Academia Sinica's Director Liao Hung-yuan, emphasizing that promoting open source collaboration is a key strategy for strengthening Taiwan's software competitiveness. Lin pointed out that to go international, Taiwan must transition to product development, turning models and governance tools into reusable public resources. IMA Chairman Tsai noted that Taiwan's open source power is evolving from community passion to industrial energy. The exhibition showcased 15 projects, presenting a full-stack ecosystem from underlying technology to AI models and industrial applications. The pavilion also shared local Taiwanese culture, such as beer and Prince Noodles, with international visitors.
