Heat alerts issued for 9 counties and cities in Taiwan; Tainan's Yujing hits 38.8°C

The Central Weather Administration (CWA) expanded its heat alert range to nine counties and cities at noon today. Residents in areas south of Changhua, as well as in Hualien and Taitung, are advised to take precautions against temperatures exceeding 36 degrees Celsius. Tainan City experienced extreme heat of 38 degrees, with Yujing District recording the highest temperature of 38.8 degrees before noon.

The CWA updated its high-temperature information at noon, noting that the weather is hot and sunny. Tainan City is under an orange alert, with the potential for extreme heat of 38 degrees. Changhua County, Nantou County, Yunlin County, Chiayi County, Kaohsiung City, Pingtung County, Hualien County, and Taitung County are under yellow alerts, with residents advised to be aware of temperatures above 36 degrees.

According to the CWA website, Yujing District in Tainan had already recorded a high of 38.8 degrees before noon, followed by Nanhua District in Tainan at 37 degrees.
