Central News Agency, Kaohsiung, June 2. Recent rainfall has caused erosion at the base of existing embankment facilities along the Kaotan drainage in Renwu District, Kaohsiung, affecting river stability and drainage functions. The city's Water Resources Bureau announced today that repair work has begun, with completion expected by mid-August. Once finished, the project will enhance the stability of the embankment structure and the river's flood discharge capacity, reducing the risk of flooding during heavy rains. The bureau stated that the project has been contracted and is progressing steadily. The scope involves repairing the retaining wall, approximately 6 meters high and 44.2 meters long, with a budget of about NT$6.67 million. The bureau noted that in the face of extreme weather, it will continue to inspect and improve drainage in flood-prone areas to enhance the city's overall disaster resilience.
