Central News Agency, Taipei, June 2. An Air Force T-34 trainer crashed during a training mission today, resulting in the death of two lieutenant colonel pilots. Premier Cho Jung-tai expressed his deepest condolences and highest respect for the two officers who were dedicated to their duties. President Lai Ching-te has instructed the Ministry of National Defense and the Air Force to provide full assistance to the families and handle funeral and compensation matters appropriately. The Air Force stated that the aircraft was conducting simulated engine failure training at the Gangshan Air Base. The deceased pilots, Kuo Chun-nan and Lu Chi-yu, both had over 2,000 flight hours on the T-34. Premier Cho noted that President Lai has ordered the Ministry of National Defense to form a task force to clarify the cause, review the aircraft's condition, training procedures, and safety management to ensure future training safety.
