As Israel continues its military operations against the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned today that any attack on the Lebanese capital Beirut would lead to a "full-scale resurgence" of war in the Middle East. According to Iran's Tasnim News Agency, Araghchi told Lebanon's Al Mayadeen TV: "Any attack on Beirut will have serious consequences and will lead to a full-scale resurgence of war." Araghchi also warned: "If Israel attacks Beirut, our armed forces are prepared to strike Israel." He further stated that communication channels between Iran and the United States remain open, but there has been "no substantial progress" in negotiations aimed at ending the war in the Middle East.
