Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim stated that the incident not only took the lives and youth of democracy movement participants but also the desire for freedom and democracy of an entire generation in China. She emphasized that truly great nations must confront history and listen to the voices of the young. National Security Council Secretary-General Wu Ze-xi also stated that '8964' is a historical memory that the CCP cannot erase, and the pursuit of freedom and dignity will never die.
