TAIPEI (CNA) — Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) resumed normal double-track operations at 12:38 PM on Tuesday after emergency crews removed bamboo stalks that had encroached on overhead catenary wires between Sijiaoting and Qidu stations, forcing a temporary switch to single-track bidirectional service.
TRA said it received a report at 11:20 AM that bamboo on a slope near the eastbound track at approximately K7+200 between Qidu and Xizhi stations was dangerously close to the catenary wire, posing a safety risk. Maintenance and electrical units began emergency removal of the bamboo at 11:40 AM. During the operation, service between Sijiaoting and Qidu was limited to single-track bidirectional running, while trains between Qidu and Xizhi used the central and west tracks.
TRA confirmed the situation was resolved by 12:38 PM and normal operations resumed. The agency apologized for the inconvenience caused to passengers.
