(Central News Agency, Taoyuan Airport, 4th) Czech Senate President Miloš Vystrčil led a delegation to visit Taiwan on the 1st. During his stay, he had an audience with the president and met with representatives of the Legislative Yuan to promote exchanges. He departed from Taoyuan International Airport on a China Airlines flight to Prague at around 11 p.m. on the 4th. Before leaving, he waved goodbye but did not make any remarks.
Vystrčil led a delegation of about 40 people on a visit from the 1st to the 4th. This was his second visit to Taiwan after nearly six years, following his previous visit at the end of August 2020. During the visit, he had an audience with the president and vice president, and met with representatives of the Legislative Yuan and heads of various ministries to promote exchanges and cooperation in political, economic, trade, and cultural fields.
President Lai Ching-te awarded Vystrčil the Special Grand Cordon of the Order of Brilliant Star on the 2nd, in recognition of his long-term support for Taiwan, his contributions to deepening Taiwan-Czech relations, and his defense of democratic and liberal values.
At a forum on the 3rd, Vystrčil stated that Taiwan's complete transformation into a democratic polity since 1996, and its peaceful process, is a similarity between the Czech Republic and Taiwan. He said, "Freedom comes with responsibility," and that resilience and security are more important than immediate interests or temporary happiness. (Editor: Chen Yanjun) 1150604
