(Central News Agency, Su Chih-yu, Taipei, June 4) Lin An-ko, the Taiwanese standout for the Saitama Seibu Lions of Nippon Professional Baseball, showed signs of a batting resurgence in his second game since being demoted to the minor league. He recorded two hits, including a bases-clearing triple, and drove in three runs, helping his team defeat the Yokohama DeNA BayStars 8-4.
Batting sixth and playing right field in the minor league game on Thursday, Lin singled off right-handed pitcher Takeda Yu in the bottom of the second inning, sparking a two-run rally that tied the game. In the bottom of the third inning, with the bases loaded, he smashed a bases-clearing triple, driving in three runs. He later scored on a teammate's hit, contributing to a four-run inning that gave his team a 6-2 lead.
Lin was retired on a fly ball and a groundout in his next two at-bats, finishing the day 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. After going hitless in four at-bats in his previous game, his bat appears to be heating up again.
Lin, who started the season on the Lions' top roster, was demoted to the minor league on May 29 due to signs of fatigue at the plate. (Editor: Lung Po-an) 1150604
