(Central News Agency, Taipei, June 4) Legislative Yuan Vice President Chiang Chi-chen attended an appreciation reception co-hosted by Czech Senate President Miloš Vystrčil and Czech Economic and Cultural Office Representative David Steinke on June 3. Chiang stated that Taiwan and the Czech Republic share core values of freedom, democracy, and human rights, and expressed hope for continuing to deepen bilateral exchanges to jointly build a more resilient and innovative democratic partnership.

The Legislative Yuan issued a press release today stating that on the evening of June 3, Vice President Chiang Chi-chen, representing Legislative Yuan President Han Kuo-yu, attended the appreciation reception co-hosted by Czech Senate President Miloš Vystrčil and Czech Economic and Cultural Office Representative David Steinke, demonstrating the long-standing and profound friendship and democratic partnership between Taiwan and the Czech Republic.

In his remarks, Vystrčil pointed out that this visit to Taiwan has once again deeply impressed him with the profound friendship of the Taiwan-Czech partnership, reaffirming that 'actions speak louder than words.' Having first visited Taiwan in 2020, leading a delegation again in 2026 is a concrete action demonstrating support for Taiwan.

Chiang stated that Vystrčil has consistently and firmly supported Taiwan since his first visit in 2020. His declaration 'I am Taiwanese' in Mandarin at the Legislative Yuan that year moved countless Taiwanese people and became an important symbol of Taiwan-Czech democratic friendship.

Chiang noted that over the past three days, through high-level interactions and industry exchanges, both sides have once again witnessed the deepening of Taiwan-Czech relations. In addition to visiting the Taiwanese government and the Legislative Yuan, Vystrčil also led approximately 30 Czech business leaders to participate in important events such as the 'Taipei International Computer Show (COMPUTEX)' and the 'Asia's Leading Startup Exhibition (InnoVEX),' demonstrating the high importance the Czech Republic places on its partnership with Taiwan in technology, industry, and supply chain cooperation.

Chiang stated that Taiwan and the Czech Republic not only share core values of freedom, democracy, and human rights but also possess highly complementary advantages in fields such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing, medical technology, and supply chain resilience. In recent years, cooperation between the two sides in areas like semiconductor talent cultivation, advanced chip design, supply chain resilience, and technological innovation has yielded fruitful results. He looks forward to continuing to deepen bilateral exchanges in the future, jointly building a more resilient and innovative democratic partnership.

Chiang pointed out that Vystrčil's visit this time continues the persistence and belief in Taiwan-Czech friendship and democratic values held by the late former Czech Senate President Jaroslav Kubera, which is deeply moving. Facing changes in the current international situation, Taiwan and the Czech Republic cherish the preciousness of democracy and freedom even more. They will continue to support each other and move forward side by side on issues such as safeguarding democracy, human rights, and regional peace and stability. (Editor: Su Long-chi) 1150604
