Ju Percussion Group's 'Beanpod Baby' Concert: Percussionists Turn Magicians

(Central News Agency, Reporter Zhao Jing-yu, Taipei, 4th) The Ju Percussion Group's annual 'Beanpod Baby Children's Concert' is launching a new production, 'Whoosh~ Magical Percussion Show,' performed by the Ju Percussion Group 2. This time, the performers will also perform magic tricks, leading children and adults on an adventure.

According to a press release from the Ju Percussion Group, 'Whoosh~ Magical Percussion Show' begins before the curtain rises, with the 'Magical Percussion Group's' Captain OK and magician Blackjack taking the stage to lead the audience through a magic show. The Beanpod Babies DoDo, ReRe, and MiMi start as audience members, watching the show before embarking on a rescue adventure.

Ju Percussion Group member Gao Han-yan, who has composed the theme song for the Beanpod Baby Children's Concert multiple times, will fully dedicate himself to the production after assuming the role of Assistant Artistic Director of the Ju Percussion Group 2 in January 2026.

The storyline incorporates the hardships of practicing percussion, contrasted with the excitement and satisfaction of performing on stage, a sentiment that will resonate with anyone who has studied music.

In addition to the popular original sing-along segment where everyone defeats dark magic, the concert will also feature 'Drumming,' a piece created by percussionist Mark Ford, whom the Ju Percussion Group first invited in 2003, allowing children easy access to percussion classics.

The 2026 Beanpod Baby Children's Concert 'Whoosh~ Magical Percussion Show' will premiere in Taipei from August to October, followed by a tour of 25 performances across 8 cities and counties: Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Taichung, Chiayi, Tainan, and Kaohsiung. (Editor: Long Bo-an) 1150604
