Lebanon: Ceasefire Agreement with Israel is 'Last Chance' for Comprehensive Truce

(Central News Agency, Beirut, 4th Combined Foreign Reports) Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said today that the ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel, announced in Washington, is the 'last chance' to achieve a comprehensive truce.

Israel and Lebanon held a fourth round of US-brokered talks in Washington yesterday, agreeing to implement a ceasefire agreement on the condition that the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah ceases its attacks.

According to a report by AFP, Aoun issued a statement through the presidential office, saying: 'The results of the fourth round of negotiations and the statement issued based on those results contain important content that is very favorable to Lebanon, and this represents the last chance to enter a final, comprehensive ceasefire.'

The statement emphasized that if there is no positive response to this, 'all relevant parties must bear responsibility.'

The leader of Hezbollah is expected to issue a statement at 3:00 PM local time (8:00 PM Taiwan time) today.

Aoun also said that after receiving responses from various domestic parties, especially Hezbollah, Lebanon will inform the United States of its position as soon as possible, adding that the US will determine the start date of the ceasefire. 'US President Donald Trump will personally serve as the direct guarantor for the implementation of the agreement,' he said.
