Groundbreaking for Tucheng Youth Social Housing in New Taipei: 426 Units Aim for Completion by End of 2029

(Central News Agency reporter Huang Xusheng, New Taipei, 5th) The groundbreaking ceremony for the Tucheng Banyuan Section Parking Lot and Youth Social Housing in New Taipei City's Tucheng District was held today. The city government stated that the project plans a 24-story building with 4 underground levels, providing 426 youth social housing units and introducing multiple public welfare facilities. The project is expected to be completed by the end of Minguo year 118 (2029).

The New Taipei City Urban and Rural Development Department stated that the groundbreaking ceremony for the 'Tucheng Banyuan Section Parking Lot and Youth Social Housing' was presided over by Mayor Hou Yu-ih, who led attending guests in a prayer ceremony.

The department explained that the site is near the Tucheng Civil Sports Center, comprehensive sports field, schools, a multi-story parking lot, and a large shopping plaza, offering convenient living functions and nearby MRT access.

Furthermore, with the addition of the Jincheng Interchange on National Highway No. 3, the Tucheng Judicial Park, and urban planning changes in the deferred development zone, the area is expected to form a city living circle integrating residential, transportation, social welfare, commercial, and leisure functions.

The Urban and Rural Development Department stated that the 24-story building is expected to provide 426 youth social housing units, along with 222 car parking spaces and 462 motorcycle parking spaces to meet surrounding residential and parking needs.

According to the press release, public welfare facilities include a community-based daycare center for people with disabilities, community living facilities for people with disabilities, and community-based long-term care group homes.

Mayor Hou Yu-ih stated in his speech that building youth social housing in prime locations aims to retain the young demographic and provide the most convenient living functions for underprivileged families.

He said the project will use precast construction methods to significantly improve construction quality and efficiency. By prefabricating components in factories and assembling them on-site, construction pollution can be reduced and the timeline shortened. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of Minguo 118 (2029).
