(CNA, by reporter Hao Hsueh-ching, Taichung, 6th) The Taichung City Government's Mass Transit Bureau announced today that following the completion of the final report review in May, the public review process for the procurement of the crucial track work for the MRT Blue Line, which connects all stations on the line, has been initiated. The bureau invites high-quality domestic and international firms to participate in the construction.

Mass Transit Bureau Director-General Su Rui-wen stated that the track work is a critical core interface connecting the civil engineering, bridges, tunnels, and mechanical/electrical systems of the MRT. It is also a key foundation for future train testing and operations.

To ensure engineering quality and implement transparent procurement, Su said that a public review is being held before the formal tender. This allows potential bidders to understand the project content, contract conditions, and construction specifications in advance, and to gather professional opinions from the industry as an important reference for refining the subsequent tender documents.

The Mass Transit Bureau said that some sections of the Blue Line's coastal segment have steeper longitudinal slopes and more curves, and steel rail wear is more pronounced in station entry and exit areas. Therefore, the plan is to comprehensively adopt 'wear-resistant rails' to enhance the service life of the rails and system stability. The entire line's switch system will use a 'movable point frog' design, which can effectively reduce impact, noise, and vibration when trains pass through, improving ride comfort and reducing the impact on the living environment of residents along the line.

Su Rui-wen expressed that the MRT Blue Line connects Taichung Port, the coastal area, the city center, and Taichung Railway Station, serving as a vital backbone of the city's east-west rail network. After its completion and opening, it will form a 'cross-shaped network' with the MRT Green Line, further enhancing public transportation service capacity and overall transport efficiency.

The Mass Transit Bureau said the public review for procurement began on the 5th. Relevant drawings and documents have been published on the Government e-Procurement System, and firms are welcome to download, review, and provide feedback. (Editor: Li Ming-tsung) 1150606
