(Central News Agency, Taipei, June 8) Chinese Communist Party General Secretary Xi Jinping will make a state visit to North Korea today. According to the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, Xi published a signed article in North Korean media, stating that no matter how the international situation changes, the traditional China-North Korea friendship will always remain unbreakable.

According to information from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Xi's signed article, titled 'Carrying Forward the Past and Opening the Future, Forging Ahead Together to Write a New Chapter in China-North Korea Traditional Friendship,' was published in North Korea's Rodong Sinmun newspaper.

In the article, Xi said this is his first visit to North Korea in seven years, and he looks forward to discussing the traditional China-North Korea friendship with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and jointly planning the development of bilateral relations.

Xi stated that no matter how times change or how the international situation evolves, the traditional China-North Korea friendship remains unbreakable, enduring and continuously radiating new vitality.

He also emphasized maintaining the fine tradition of high-level exchanges between the two parties and countries, saying they should 'visit and interact frequently like relatives.' At the same time, both sides should strengthen strategic communication and coordination, oppose hegemonism and power politics, and oppose all plots and actions that revive militarism and threaten regional security and stability.

Xi also stressed that maintaining, consolidating, and developing China-North Korea relations has always been the unwavering policy of the Chinese Party and government. Currently, China-North Korea relations stand at a new historical starting point and face new development opportunities. China is willing to work with North Korea to grasp bilateral relations from a strategic height and promote the relations to keep pace with the times and achieve greater development.

After Xi met with visiting US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Beijing in mid-May, a spokesperson for the International Department of the CPC Central Committee announced on June 5 that, at the invitation of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Xi would pay a state visit to North Korea from June 8 to 9.

Xi's last meeting with Kim Jong Un was in September last year, when Kim visited Beijing to attend a military parade marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. (Editor: Lu Jiarong / Chen Kaiyu) 1150608
