(Central News Agency reporter Lu Gangjun, Hsinchu County, 8th) The Kuomintang (KMT) Hsinchu County Chapter held a qualification review meeting for the 2026 (Year 115 of the Republic of China) elections today, passing the recommended nominations and election assistance methods for each district for Hsinchu County councilors and township mayors. The candidate for Zhubei City Mayor will be decided by an opinion poll, with the results announced on June 15.
The KMT Hsinchu County Chapter issued a press release today stating that, based on the central party's nomination regulations, and after comprehensive consideration of factors such as the number of seats to be elected in each district, local service performance, grassroots support, overall election situation, and the goal of maximizing the party's victory, the review committee discussed and approved the recommended election assistance methods for each district proposed by the county chapter. These will be subsequently reported to the central party headquarters for approval.
Regarding the county councilor candidates, the county chapter announced the following: For Zhubei City's 1st district, Wang Bing-han and Chen Kai-rong are nominated. For Zhubei City's 2nd district, Tsai Chih-huan, Tu Wen-chung, and Tai Pei-ju are nominated. For Xinfeng Township, Chang Yi-sheng is nominated, and Hsu Yuan-fa is approved. For Hukou Township, Zhen Ke-jian, Wu Ju-hua, and Chen Bo-cheng are nominated, and Lai Bao-yu and Dai Yi-ru are approved. For Guanxi Township, Hsu Yu-hsin and Lo Shih-chi are nominated.
For Xinpu Township, Fan Yueh-fu is nominated. For Hengshan Township and Jianshi Township, Chang Liang-yin is nominated. For Qionglin Township, Huang Cheng-biao is nominated. For Zhudong Township and Wufeng Township, Huang Hao-jie, Peng Yu-mei-ling, Shangguan Chiu-yen, and Luo Jun-jie are nominated. For Baoshan Township, Chiu Kun-tong is nominated. For Beipu Township and Emei Township, Wang Chen-hsiang is nominated. For the Plains Indigenous district, Lin Bing-jun is nominated. For the Jianshi Mountain Indigenous district, Tseng Kuo-ta is nominated. No nomination was made for the Wufeng Mountain Indigenous district.
For the township mayoral candidates, the county chapter announced: For Hukou Township, Wu Shu-chun is nominated. For Xinfeng Township, Cheng Hsu-kai is nominated. For Guanxi Township, Liu Te-liang is nominated. For Xinpu Township, Chen Ying-lou is nominated. For Qionglin Township, Chen Hsing-hung is nominated. For Zhudong Township, Fan Kuo-wei is nominated. For Baoshan Township, Chiu Chen-wei is nominated. For Beipu Township, Hsu Ching-ming is nominated. For Wufeng Township, Chiu Wei-shu is nominated. For Jianshi Township, Liu Chien-min is nominated. For Hengshan Township, Ku Li-ming and Chu Chen-yuan will compete in an open election. For Emei Township, Wen Hsiu-ju and Chiang Ning-tseng will compete in an open election.
As for the Zhubei City Mayor candidate, the county chapter stated that, in accordance with the "2026 Joint Governance and Local Election Cooperation Agreement" between the KMT and the Taiwan People's Party (TPP), a joint candidate will be fielded for the Zhubei City mayoral election. The KMT's interested candidates are Chiu Ching-ya, Wu Hsu-chih, Lin Chi-hsien, and Lin Yu-yu, who have all signed a "Letter of Intent and Commitment to Run."
The county chapter noted that, after coordination and with the agreement of the interested candidates, an internal reference poll will be conducted from June 12 to 14, and the results will serve as the basis for the nomination. The winner will represent the KMT as the candidate for Zhubei City Mayor. The winning candidate is expected to be announced on June 15.
