(Central News Agency, reporter Wu Jiahao, Taipei, June 8) With demand for artificial intelligence (AI) servers remaining robust, contract manufacturer Quanta Computer today reported consolidated revenue of approximately NT$311.481 billion for May, setting a record for the same period and marking the third-highest monthly figure ever. This represents an 8.4% decrease from April's second-highest monthly figure but a 94.4% increase year-on-year, and marks the third consecutive month revenue has exceeded the NT$300 billion mark.
For the first five months of the year, Quanta's cumulative consolidated revenue reached NT$1.460623 trillion, an 82.6% increase year-on-year, also a new record for the period.
Quanta shipped 3.5 million notebook computers in May, flat compared to April. The company previously stated that due to a high base for notebooks in the first quarter and tight supply of key components, it expects Q2 shipments to be flat or show a slight sequential increase.
Regarding its AI server business, Quanta expects Q2 revenue to maintain double-digit sequential growth, and revenue from general-purpose servers will also continue to grow quarter-on-quarter. Consequently, Quanta has raised its full-year outlook for general-purpose servers to double-digit annual growth, significantly outperforming its original forecast of flat growth compared to last year.
Quanta Executive Vice President and General Manager of Quanta Cloud Technology (QCT), Yang Qiling, said in an interview at the recent COMPUTEX trade show that QCT's overseas expansion has never stopped. The company plans to add three more factories in the United States by the end of this year, primarily located in California. (Editor: Yang Lanxuan) 1150608
