(CNA, by reporter Yang Shu-Min, Taipei, 9th) Following the first free health check-up for migrant workers held on March 15, the Taipei City Department of Labor announced today that a total of four events are planned for this year. The second event will be held on June 14 from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM in the 1st-floor main hall of the Taiwan Railways Taipei Station. Migrant workers are reminded to bring their Alien Resident Certificate and National Health Insurance card.
The city's Workforce Redevelopment and Utilization Office stated in a press release that a total of four free health check-ups for migrant workers are scheduled for the 115th year of the Republic (2026). Following the one on March 15, the upcoming event on June 14 will also be held in the conveniently located hall of the Taipei Main Station.
The Department of Labor said that this event is also held in cooperation with the Tzu Chi International Medical Association. The check-up includes general physical examinations and services in dentistry, otolaryngology (ENT), internal medicine, gynecology, psychosomatic medicine, and traditional Chinese medicine. In recent years, consultation on medication safety has been one of the top three requested services, and abdominal ultrasounds have also seen an increase, indicating a growing awareness of preventive healthcare and a need for medication consultation among migrant workers.
The Department of Labor added that besides the health check-ups, the event will also provide information on health and hygiene services, as well as living in Taiwan. To encourage participation, the first 20 people to complete the check-up will receive a voucher for a 15-minute massage experience from a visually impaired masseur.
Furthermore, the Department of Labor stated that two more sessions will be held in the second half of the year on August 16 and October 4. Employers and brokers are asked to help share this information to protect the health of migrant workers and create a win-win situation.
