Foxconn today announced a strategic partnership with investment firm Brookfield to jointly invest in and develop renewable energy projects in Vietnam, supporting Foxconn and its supply chain's local operations.
According to a Foxconn press release, Brookfield and Foxconn will jointly develop 1 GW of wind, solar, and energy storage projects, combined with long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs). The two parties will also collaborate on investment and asset management for related projects.
Thomas Tu, Chief Investment Officer of Foxconn, stated that the partnership with Brookfield secures long-term renewable energy supply for Foxconn's operations and supply chain in Vietnam. By co-investing and participating in project management with Brookfield, this collaboration will provide stable, cost-effective power for Foxconn's continued development in the region.
Foxconn explained that this cooperation will proceed in parallel with the gradual improvement of Vietnam's Direct PPA policy.
According to information, Brookfield is headquartered in New York, USA, and currently manages over $1 trillion in assets across infrastructure, energy, private equity, real estate, and credit. Brookfield is one of the world's largest owners, operators, and developers of clean energy assets, with operations across five continents, encompassing hydropower, wind, solar, energy storage, and sustainable solutions.
Brookfield's Head of Asia Pacific Energy, Cheng Jingyao, stated that the partnership with Foxconn focuses on the growing corporate demand for renewable energy in Vietnam, one of Asia's fastest-growing economies.
