(Central News Agency, reporter Chen Zhizhong, Taipei, 9th) Online hate speech, sexual harassment, and other forms of gender-based violence are causing deep harm to young students. Taiwan's Ministry of Education has launched its first immersive interactive game-based learning material, 'Keyboard Battle Youth', which uses scenario simulations and branching options to let students experience making choices at critical moments.
The Ministry of Education announced in a press release today that 'Keyboard Battle Youth' has been uploaded to the Gender Equality Global Information Network and is open for public download.
The story of 'Keyboard Battle Youth' features four college students as protagonists, leading players into daily campus life to recognize common forms of digital and online gender-based violence. These include 'online sexual harassment', 'non-consensual distribution of sexually or gender-related private images or personal information', and 'gender-based derogatory or hate speech' commonly found in online communities.
In addition to the storyline experience, 'Keyboard Battle Youth' integrates relevant help and resource information, assisting players in clearly understanding the available support channels and resources when encountering similar situations, thereby strengthening their problem-solving abilities.
For example, in the 'Undeletable File' scenario, it simulates intimate relationships and digital risks within communication software, allowing players to try to identify inappropriate requests and potential crises, learning how to protect their own privacy and safety.
The Ministry of Education pointed out that with the prevalence of digital technology and social media, the internet has become an important arena in students' campus life. 'Keyboard Battle Youth' aims to use innovative and interactive methods to help students learn to identify problems through immersive experiences, cultivating their ability to respect others and protect themselves in the online world.
