(Central News Agency, reporter Chen Yuting, Taipei, 10th) Taipei Metro's Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall Station bears the heavy responsibility of transporting crowds from the Taipei Dome. To allow passengers to enter and exit the station more quickly, a trial of an LED gate indicator system has begun today. The gate barriers near Exit 5 have been removed, and red and green lights indicate the result of ticket card validation.
Taipei Metro Company issued a press release today stating that to improve traffic efficiency, its team independently developed the "Gate LED Indicator System." Without affecting the existing gate functions, they developed a light bar control board that captures the success or failure signals of ticket card validation and connects to the light bar to display the status, adding an intuitive visual identification function.
Taipei Metro explained that this system retains the existing screen display and audible prompts on the gates while adding a visual red and green light design. If the ticket card is validated successfully, a green light is displayed; if there is a problem with the validation, a red light turns on. Passengers do not need to stop and check the gate screen; they can quickly understand the validation result and pass through the gate swiftly.
Taipei Metro stated that the red barriers on two gates near Exit 5 of Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall Station have been removed, and the trial of this system begins today. It is hoped that this will accelerate passenger entry and exit during large events and improve traffic efficiency. The company will observe the trial results and collect passenger feedback to refine the service. (Editor: Chen Qingfang) 1150610
