Taitung International Balloon Festival Offers Parking Discounts for Locals, Workers, and Students

County residents, those working in Taitung, and those studying in Taitung are eligible for parking discounts. By paying NT$200, they can park unlimited times in the county resident preferential parking lot within the event venue.

Huang Renchuan, Section Chief of the Tourism Planning Section of the Taitung County Government's Tourism Development Department, told Central News Agency today that the Taiwan International Balloon Festival, hosted by the Taitung County Government in previous years, has always attracted large crowds. During the event, visitors driving to the venue, regardless of whether they are in large or small vehicles (cars, trucks) or motorcycles, are required to pay an entrance cleaning and maintenance fee.

During this year's event, those who are registered residents of Taitung County, or who work or study within Taitung County, can apply for the preferential parking qualification by presenting relevant documents such as an ID card, work ID, or student ID. By pre-paying NT$200, they can use the county resident preferential parking lot at the Luye Highland Balloon Activity Area unlimited times during the event period. There is no time restriction for parking, but only 100 parking spaces are available each day on a first-come, first-served basis.

Huang stated that the application period runs from the 15th to the end of the event on August 20th, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily. Applications can be made at the designated counter at the "Taitung County Resident Service Center." Applicants should bring relevant documents such as an ID card, work ID, or student ID, along with their own or a family member's vehicle registration certificate. The vehicle does not need to be registered in Taitung County.

The Taitung County Government's Tourism Development Department reminds the public that the county resident preferential parking is planned to serve local residents, those working in Taitung, and those studying in Taitung. Rental cars, commercial vehicles, and company vehicles with license plates starting with "R" are not eligible for this discount. During the event, parking spaces in the county resident preferential parking lot are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
