(Central News Agency, Dubai/Washington Combined Foreign Report, June 10) The United States and Iran today engaged in their largest exchange of fire since a ceasefire in April. The US launched airstrikes in the Strait of Hormuz in retaliation for a helicopter attack; Iran's Revolutionary Guards subsequently claimed to have attacked a US military base in Jordan and 21 other targets in the Gulf region.

According to Reuters, Iran's offensive was wide-ranging, covering Kuwait and Bahrain. This came after the US Central Command (CENTCOM) launched strikes following the downing of a US Army Apache helicopter, as mentioned by President Donald Trump, bombing Iranian air defense, ground command facilities, and surveillance radar sites near the Strait of Hormuz.

CENTCOM issued a statement shortly before 9 PM Eastern Time, declaring the operation concluded after approximately four hours. A US official revealed that the US military precisely struck nearly 20 Iranian military targets in the operation.

In response to the US bombing, Iran's Revolutionary Guards immediately issued a statement, claiming to have used "long-range missiles" to target four facilities within the US base at al-Azraq, Jordan.

The Revolutionary Guards stated that the targets included F-35 fighter jet hangars and the US command center, warning that if the US launched further attacks, Iran would deliver a "devastating and decisive" response.

In Jordan, the country's armed forces stated today that they had successfully intercepted and shot down five missiles fired from Iran targeting the al-Azraq base. The military added that the debris from the intercepted missiles fell within Jordanian territory, causing no casualties or property damage.

Meanwhile, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards claimed to have sent drones to attack Kuwait's Ali Al Salem Air Base. The Kuwaiti military stated it had activated its air defense systems to intercept incoming targets and called on the public to follow official safety instructions.

Simultaneously, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards also claimed to have raided the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain with drones, threatening a harsher response if hostile actions continued.

Bahrain's Interior Ministry immediately issued an alert, urging the public to move to safe locations. A news advisor to the King of Bahrain posted on X, stating that air defense forces had successfully repelled the incoming Iranian drones.

A US official, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that preliminary assessments indicate nearly all of the missiles and drones launched by Iran were intercepted. There are currently no reports of US casualties or base damage. (Editor: Cai Jiamin) 1150610
