Fatal Taoyuan Car Crash: 1 Dead, 3 Without Vital Signs

(CNA Reporter Yeh Chen, Taoyuan, 10th) A fatal car accident occurred today at noon on Section 2, Zhongshan West Road, in Xinwu District, Taoyuan City. A passenger car and a semi-trailer truck collided at the scene, and police and fire personnel rescued trapped individuals from the car. The accident resulted in one person's death, three sent to the hospital for emergency care without breathing or a heartbeat, and two with minor injuries. The cause of the accident is pending investigation.

The Taoyuan City Fire Department stated that they received an automatic report from an Apple Watch at 11:58 AM today about a car accident on Section 2, Zhongshan West Road in Xinwu District. At the scene, a passenger car had collided with a semi-trailer truck, and multiple people were trapped inside the car. Firefighters arrived and immediately used extrication tools to free them.

The Fire Department reported a total of six casualties at the scene: one confirmed dead, three without breathing or a heartbeat, and two with minor injuries. The deceased was the 60-year-old female driver of the passenger car, who was not transported. The 60-year-old female front passenger of the car and the 35-year-old male driver of the truck were conscious and sent to the hospital with minor injuries.

The other three without vital signs—two female passengers around 60 years old and one 50-year-old male passenger—were all sent for emergency medical treatment. The detailed cause of the accident is still being clarified. (Editor: Lin Shu-hui) 1150610
