Car Crashes into Convenience Store and Motorcycle in Taichung's Shalu District, One Injured

(Central News Agency, reporter Su Muchun, Taichung, 11th) A man surnamed Wang, 52, was driving in Taichung's Shalu District on the morning of the 11th. While attempting to make a U-turn, he reportedly mistakenly stepped on the accelerator, causing the vehicle to go out of control. The car then crashed into a roadside convenience store and a parked motorcycle, injuring a man standing nearby who was sent to the hospital. Preliminary police investigation has ruled out drunk or drugged driving, and the cause of the accident is still under investigation.

According to the Taichung City Police Department's Qingshui Precinct, a report of a traffic accident on Guanghua Road in Shalu District was received at 7:43 AM on the 11th, and officers were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Preliminary police investigation indicates that the car driven by the 52-year-old man surnamed Wang was traveling north on Guanghua Road. Wang stated that he mistakenly stepped on the accelerator while attempting to make a U-turn at the location, losing control of the vehicle. The car subsequently struck a stationary motorcycle and the structure of a convenience store by the roadside. A 36-year-old man surnamed Kuo, who was standing next to the motorcycle, sustained abrasions and contusions on his limbs and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Kuo is in stable condition after receiving medical treatment. Wang tested negative for alcohol consumption. Based on on-site observation and evidence collection, police have also ruled out the possibility of drugged driving. The exact cause of the accident is pending further police investigation.
