(Central News Agency reporter Xu Zhiwei, Taipei, 11th) The unified placement results for the 115th academic year university application admission channel were announced today. 11 medical schools offered 597 slots (self-funded), with 460 students ultimately placed, resulting in 137 vacancies, a five-year high. 7 dental schools offered 200 slots, with 165 students placed, resulting in 35 vacancies.
The University Admissions Committee announced the unified placement results for the 115th academic year university application admission channel this morning. A total of 50,450 slots (excluding additional quotas) were available, with 78,280 applicants. 44,082 students were placed, resulting in a placement rate of 56.31% and 7,823 vacancies.
Regarding medical schools, 11 schools offered a total of 597 admission slots (self-funded). 4,918 individuals applied, 2,070 passed the first-stage screening, and 460 were ultimately placed, leaving 137 vacancies, a five-year high. Schools with higher vacancies included Chung Shan Medical University (31), Taipei Medical University (29), and China Medical University (28).
The committee estimates that the increase in vacancies may be due to students being admitted to multiple medical schools through the application channel or being admitted to medical schools through the Star Recommendation channel, leading to duplicate admissions and subsequent vacancies.
Regarding dental schools, 7 schools offered a total of 200 admission slots (self-funded). 2,146 individuals applied, 697 passed the first-stage screening, and 165 were ultimately placed, leaving 35 vacancies. Schools with higher vacancies included China Medical University (16) and Chung Shan Medical University (11). National Cheng Kung University's dental school offered 9 slots but only placed 1 student.
The committee stated that although National Cheng Kung University's dental school had both primary and backup candidates, only one student was ultimately placed due to candidates being admitted to other schools.
Additionally, the University Admissions Committee announced the results for the 8th group of departments (medical and dental schools) under the Star Recommendation channel. 11 medical schools offered 196 slots, with 439 applicants. 306 passed the first-stage screening, and 197 were admitted. National Taiwan University's medical school admitted one additional student beyond its quota.
For dental schools under the Star Recommendation channel, 7 schools offered 36 slots, with 148 applicants. 59 passed the first-stage screening, and 34 were admitted, leaving 2 vacancies. (Editor: Wu Surou) 1150611
