(Central News Agency, Taipei, June 11, reporter Lin Chang-shun) Taiwanese entertainer Huang Zih-jiao, convicted for purchasing child sexual abuse material, was sentenced by the Supreme Court to 1 year and 6 months in prison, suspended for 4 years, with probation. During the probation period, he is required to perform 180 hours of community service and attend 3 sessions of legal education. Huang reported to the Third Office of the Taipei District Prosecutors Office on the morning of June 11 for probation supervision. He did not respond to media inquiries.

In the first instance, he was sentenced to 8 months in prison under the Child and Youth Sexual Exploitation Prevention Act. Upon appeal, the Taiwan High Court changed the charge to the Personal Data Protection Act and sentenced him to 1 year and 6 months, suspended for 4 years, with probation. The Supreme Court dismissed the appeal in May, finalizing the sentence.

Legal experts stated that during the 4-year probation period, Huang must be supervised and counseled by a probation officer, report regularly, and comply with relevant regulations (such as maintaining good conduct and obeying orders). If he violates the law during this period, the probation could be revoked.

Regarding the community service, the probation officer will consider Huang's case, residence, work, family, health, and expertise, and assign him to an appropriate institution (such as government agencies, schools, administrative corporations, public welfare groups, or social welfare organizations) selected by the prosecutors office. The service items include public service, environmental cleaning, social service, document processing, services for the disadvantaged, and event assistance. Legal education sessions are organized by local prosecutors offices. For example, the Taipei District Prosecutors Office holds one session per month at its Third Office group classroom.
